Over 200 crawler tractors, including those by Caterpillar, Holt and Best will go under the hammer in what is one of the largest single owner collection of crawler tractors in the UK. Hosted over the 19th and 20th May, this two-day auction is being organised by Cheffins on behalf of the estate of well-known collector, Robert Wilson.
Highlights of the sale include Holt 75, various Best models and most Caterpillar crawler tractor variants. Likes of this sale have never been seen in the UK and is unlikely to be seen again.
Oliver Godfrey, Head of Machinery Division at Cheffins says: “This is easily the biggest single-owner collection of crawler tractors in the UK and the likes of which will not been seen again at auction. The Wilson family took on Home Farm during WWII and saw Caterpillar crawlers clearing the heavy land at RAF Ossington. Realising the potential, a Caterpillar D2 was then bought for work on the farm, sparking a lifelong obsession with Caterpillar crawler tractors in all of their variants. Robert Wilson was a much-respected expert in this marque and was quick to help collectors and enthusiasts globally with mechanical or technical issues. Alongside the farm business, Robert bought, sold, imported, repaired and maintained Caterpillar tractors for clients all over the country. He enjoyed showing and operating tractors at rallies and events as well as putting them to work on the farm, notably a CAT D9 with a unique Wilson built 17 furrow plough!”
The sale will take place on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th May at Home Farm, Ossington, Nottinghamshire.
