The first Jewellery, Silver & Watches Sale of 2023 will take place on 6th April at Cheffins. Consisting of over 650 lots, the auction includes high value and collectible jewellery, a variety of watches and an interesting collection of silver and objets de vertu.
Lot 290 – Cartier - An 18ct gold exceptionally slim hunter dress pocket watch – estimate £1500 - £2500
I’m amazed at how slim this watch is. Front cover, back cover, and mechanical movement in between and still just 6mm thick! Top-quality and from the 1920s, this has to be a collector’s dream piece!
Lot 592 – A set of four Edward VII silver and nephrite candlesticks in a fitted travelling case – estimate £2000 - £4000
It’s pretty rare to get a matching set of four candlesticks, but to get a set with nephrite columns and in the original travelling case is something I don’t think in 40 years I’ve ever seen before! They’re really elegant, as well as rare, and would look amazing on the dining room table. All you need is four candles!
Lot 112 – An early 20th century pink topaz and split pearl pendant – estimate £400 - £600
Such a dainty feminine piece. The soft pink of the topaz and the cascade of pearls down each side really works well together. It’s not ‘loud and in your face’ it’s just a striking and beautiful jewel.
Lot 205 - An Art Deco diamond and pearl panel brooch – estimate £1000 - £2000
The design and style just screams Art Deco with its perfect symmetry and clean lines. It’s less common to see pearls in this style of brooch, which adds to the appeal. It looks stunning on a black lapel!
Lot 373 – A continental metalwares pomander – estimate £1000 - £2000
An old piece but what a demonstration of craftsman’s skill! Eight segments fold out like a flower head to reveal the centre with four hinged compartments. One for orange, one for mace, one for black carraway and cumin and one for coconut. Can you just imagine the glorious smell when all the compartments are ‘fully loaded’?
