A selection of rare steam engines, tractors, classic cars, commercial vehicles, and collectors’ items will go under the hammer at the final Cheffins Vintage sale of 2023 on 20th and 21st October.
Leading the sale is a 1918 Sentinel Standard steam wagon, which was built in Shrewsbury and was used as a tipper for manufacturers of railway axles and forgings. Having spent some years at the National Railway Museum in York, the wagon was then purchased by a collector based in Norfolk in 1970. It underwent significant restoration over the following years and attended events and rallies in Norfolk, Suffolk and further afield. It is now offered fully restored and has a presale estimate of £100,000 - £120,000. The highlight of the classic cars and motorcycle section is a rare and beautifully presented 1910 Stanley 20 HP Model 72 steam car. Having been restored by highly respected specialists, Goold Brothers of Camerton, Bath, it is now offered in immaculate condition with a pre-sale estimate of £75,000 - £85,000.

Among the motorcycles, a 1955 998cc Vincent Black Knight is set to sell for between £30,000 and £40,000. It is one of only 100 Black Knights to ever have been built by the Vincent factory, and this particular example has been in its current ownership for the past 32 years. This is followed by a 1956 998cc JMC Norvin motorcycle which was converted into a modern-day café racer in 2019 by motorbike specialist, John Mossey, which has an estimate of £35,000 - £40,000.
Among the 230 tractors on offer, a 1978 Muir-Hill 171 leads the pack, with an estimate of £35,000 - £40,000. This is followed by a 1974 Ford 7000, in off-farm condition which is set to sell for £21,000 - £25,000 and a 1929 Rumely Oil Pull which has spent the past 14 years in a private collection and is now set to achieve between £8,000 and £10,000.
