Planning permission has been granted for 15 affordable homes in the centre of Thetford, Norfolk.
Cheffins, which handled the application, was given approval for the scheme on 18th January 2022 by Breckland District Council. The application was made on behalf of The Havebury Housing Partnership, a not-for-profit affordable housing association which manages over 6,900 homes across the East of England.
The dwellings will be on the site of two former office buildings, Fairstead House and The Gate House, at 1-7 Bury Road, Thetford. The site extends to over 3,800 square metres and the permission includes the creation of the 15 solely affordable properties, as well as landscaping and car parking.
The Havebury Housing Partnership will deliver the development, with the intention of retaining and managing the properties, open space, and communal areas.
Scott Bailey, Director of Development at Havebury Housing Partnership says:
“Working with Cheffins, we are pleased to have been granted planning permission on this site in Thetford which will provide much needed affordable homes for people in the area. We shall shortly be appointing a contractor and starting the conversion of the buildings into high quality affordable homes.”
Edward Clarke, Planner at Cheffins says:
“The continued involvement of The Havebury Housing Partnership in the site will ensure its long-term maintenance and a commitment to building a safe and welcoming community that integrates well within the area. The scheme was supported by the housing enabling officer and hopefully these homes will go some way to help meet the needs of additional affordable housing in the local community.”
