A modernist house on the North Norfolk coast is up for two major architecture awards, the Zinc Media Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) case study and the 2023 Norwich and Norfolk Design and Craftsmanship Awards.
With planning permission secured by PlanSurv Ltd (now part of Cheffins Planning Division) in 2021, this complex project involved the conversion to holiday let of a former telecoms building in Winterton, North Norfolk, designed by Paul Robinson Partnership Architecture.
The contemporary-style building has been cleverly extended and now features three en-suite bedrooms, a terrace and covered parking, in standing seam metal panels and timber cladding.
Ruth Gunton, Senior Planner at Cheffins comments: "This was a challenging application which involved the conversion of a vacant former Virgin Media data hub into a two storey dwelling. Our planning strategy was comprehensive and we worked closely with our Client, NorCam Properties Ltd to successfully navigate through the significant ecological and flood risk constraints to an approval at planning committee. The initial design chosen by the Client and expertly reflected by the Architect, Paul Robinson Partnership was key to achieving planning permission for this very special building, which we hope will be recognised in these two upcoming architecture awards.”
