Girton Recreation Ground Pavilion to get significant extension following successful planning application Published:Thu 07 Jan 2021
Approved on the 14th December on behalf of Girton Parish Council, Girton Recreation Ground Pavilion has been granted planning permission for a significant extension of 40 per cent of the internal floor area. As the owner and operator of Girton Pavilion, Girton Parish Council recently received grant funding from Cambridgeshire County Councils’ Communities Capital Fund. The £275,000 funding was awarded on 3rd of September for the remodelling and extension to Girton Pavilion as part of the Cambridgeshire County Council’s £5 million Communities Capital Fund. The proposal will deliver a remodelled internal layout of the pavilion to provide an accessible ground floor Parish and booking office which has been relocated from the first floor. There will also be an extension to the Sports Hall with additional user storage space and a seating capacity of 150 plus a permanent stage to accommodate larger meetings, conferences, public events, parties, concerts and musical and drama productions. The transfer of some changing facilities to the first floor will make use of currently underused space and allow provision of a sports club meeting room on the ground floor.
