The first residents have now moved in at Palace Green Home’s Eden Square development in Ely city centre. On the market with Cheffins, Eden Square is now approximately 75 per cent sold, with only three open market homes now remaining.
Eden Square comprises of thirteen contemporary homes in the centre of Ely, ranging from one to four-bedroom terraced properties, designed to complement Ely’s heritage and nearby Fen countryside. The site is set adjacent to the city centre and was previously the Ely public swimming pool, known as Paradise Pools. The homes at Eden Square have been finished to a high specification, with underfloor heating, quality fixtures and fittings and contemporary interiors. Each property at the site has been fitted with green energy technology, including air source heat pumps, and is set within a biodiverse haven, with mature trees, community open space and greenery, as well as a parkland of grass and evergreen shrubs bordering the scheme. Many of the properties come with gardens and terraces, some of which have enviable views over Ely Cathedral.
Palace Green Homes was established by East Cambridgeshire District Council in 2016, and the company is helping to address the shortage of new housing across the district. This ethos was applied at Eden Square, where Palace Green Homes has sold four one-bedroom properties as part of the £100k homes scheme, which was initiated by Mayor James Palmer in 2020. The £100k homes which were on offer were prioritised for local people, who live and work in the local community.
Jo Alderson, Sales Manager at Palace Green Homes comments: “At Palace Green Homes we are a responsible developer, that cares for the communities where we work. On our schemes, we only use building contractors who share our ethos for attention to detail, design and build quality and this has been the case at Eden Square, where we have produced first class homes to a high specification, while also providing housing for the local community. We saw over 70 applications for the £100k homes on offer, which goes to prove the demand for affordable housing in the local area.”
The houses remaining for sale at Eden Square include plot five, a two-storey, three-bedroom mews style home which is available for £425,000 and an end terrace version at plot seven for £435,000. There will then be just one further plot to be released, plot one which is a spacious four-bedroom, three storey house with views of the Cathedral.
Richard Booth, Director, Cheffins says: “Eden Square is a landmark modern scheme for Ely. With stunning architecture from Haysom Ward Miller and Gary Johns architects and finished to an incredibly high quality, these homes have been popular with a range of buyers including first time buyers and downsizers. Palace Green Homes has established itself as one of the leading developers in the region, offering great quality properties while also making a positive impact on the local community.”
The properties are now ready for occupation.
