Major Auction Sale – 10th February 2011

Cheffins are pleased to announce that they have been instructed by 'Farmers Weekly Contractor of the Year 2010' Harry Wilson of Wilson Farming, to dispose of by public auction no less than 9no forage harvesters, 8no Fendt tractors, 3no JCB loading shovels, 3no John Deere materials handlers, machinery and equipment, as part of their ongoing fleet renewal policy.

Harry Wilson started his farming career when he took on 47 acres with his wife Lynn, with Harry then going out baling hay on his trusty Fordson Super Dexta. Harry purchased his first forage harvester in 1975 and by 1978 had begun hiring out machines. Harry has had a long standing relationship with Claas which started when he purchased his first machine from the company a 690. From then to this day he has owned and operated some 140 forage harvesters and currently runs Europe’s largest fleet of forage harvesters, with an impressive 30 machines out on hire throughout the UK and Ireland. Wilson’s also operate four foragers on the contracting side of their business which is based in Preston. Harry and his two sons Keith and Ian have a keen philosophy to invest in the future of farming and have diversified a part of their business into developing miscanthus and hemp harvesting techniques as well as creating a separate business International Energy Crops who specialise in the production and precision planting of rhizomes.

All the machines run by Wilson Farming are subject to their strict in house servicing schedule. From their headquarters in Preston they meticulously service all their machinery and equipment, ensuring that everything is harvest ready when it goes out on hire. With workshops that rival many dealers in the UK and a comprehensive stock of spares, it is not uncommon for Claas UK and other dealers to source spare parts from Wilson Farming.

With a long term commitment to the future of Wilson Farming and their clients, Harry has decided to renew a proportion of their machinery in order to upgrade their contracting and hire fleet. An impressive selection of nine forage harvesters including a Claas 890 (2), 870 (2), 850 (4) and a Krone V12 all being sold harvest ready and subject to a rigorous servicing schedule, will go under the hammer along with eight Fendt tractors including models 927 and 818 (7), four Claas quadrant balers 2100, 2200 (2), and a high density 3400 baler, three JCB 416 (2) and 434 loading shovels and a further three John Deere 3400 material handlers. There will also be a useful line up of Bailey trailers, mowers, muck spreaders and a comprehensive selection of spares and wheels and tyres of which most are like new.

The sale will be held at Market Drayton, Shropshire on Thursday 10th February 2011 with catalogues available three weeks prior to the sale. Both Cheffins and Wilson Farming will be present at this years Lincolnshire Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association (LAMMA) show on 19th and 20th January on stands 893 and 889 respectively. We will both be happy to discuss the sale and any questions you may have and we look forward to seeing you there.
