April Appetisers
Entries for Cheffin’s spring collective vintage sale are rolling in with some very interesting and intriguing lots already consigned. Whether you’re after steam or diesel drive, two, four or even three wheels, this sale has it all!
April always attracts some of the most desirable vintage and classic tractors and this year is no different. Already consigned is a very attractive 1936 Marshall 18/30, superbly restored 1954 Lanz Bulldog 19506 and c.1964 Massey Ferguson DT7000 and a very well presented 1955 Singar Motors Monarch tractor. For the classic tractor collector April will have some machines to enhance any collection. One of the more uncommon Ford variants to be offered in recent years will be a 1964 County Fordson Super Dexta, with articulated steering and front mounted log rolling blade, this scarce tractor was one of only three produced and is sure to receive some interest. Keeping with the blue tractors is a very original straight petrol Fordson Major with a lovely patination and has undergone some mechanical resonation work, a straight and original Roadless 95, and a smart 1962 Fordson Dexta restored 6 years ago and has mellowed nicely. One for the low houred collector is a very tidy Massey Ferguson 265 with a mere 717 hours recorded.
With a change of colour (quite literally) is something a bit different. To help commemorate Massey Ferguson’s 50th Anniversary a well known tractor restorer and enthusiast from Northern Ireland has fully restored a 1970 Massey Ferguson 135 and replicated the model with a life size example. This tractor will no doubt be a real talking point and generate a lot of interest.
For the steam enthusiast is a beautiful 1907 Foster ‘Wellington’ steam tractor Reg No. SD 527 No. 3633 “The 1907 RAC Trials Silver Medal Winner”. This historic engine was one of the earlier batch of ‘Wellington’ tractors and supplied new to W.J Lobjoit of Heston, Middlesex, a vegetable grower, who had an impressive fleet of nine Wellingtons! Also on offer is stunning 1935 Sentinel S4 steam lorry Reg No. CML 781 and Works No. 9192.
Motorcycles are not to be outdone and already consigned are several headlining machines such as the 1948 show winning Vincent Rapide Series B, from the same deceased estate also comes a stunning 1952 Vincent Comet. The 1939 350cc Norton 40M Manx GP is bound to impress as will the extraordinary and truly unique 1904 250cc Don. No, we'd never heard of one either, one of only three Scottish built machines, this is the sole survivor and it is another show winner.
A well documented 1935 Excelsior Manxman will be an undoubted star as will a very rare 1931 O.K. Supreme "Lighthouse" model A/3. Modern classics are represented as well with a stunning 1999 Ducati 916SPS Carl Fogarty Replica, surely with massive investment potential as well as the ultimate road racer, the older racers will be taken with a fine 1960 Triton cafe racer which will sit alongside many other machines of the era.
