Hale Sanders / 1913' (lower left) and inscribed with title (to the reverse)oil on canvas54.5 x 98cmProvenance:From the estate of the late Barry Lock (1934-2021)The old three-decker HMS St. Vincent was launched in 1815. In her prime she carried 120 guns and played a major role in the Crimean War. Released from sea duty in 1862, she became a training ship for boy cadets, with a permanent mooring at Haslar Creek, just inside Portsmouth Harbour, until she was finally retired in 1905 and broken up at Falmouth in 1906.
