Longines for Djezvedjian & Son, Istanbul - A Swiss 18ct gold open faced dress pocket watch,

circa 1928, the tandem signed cream coloured dial with waffle inner, 41mm diameter, with black Arabic numerals, blued moon hands, subsidiary seconds register at 6 o'clock and chemin de fer chapter ring spaced with black Arabic minute indicators, signed 16 jewel mechanical crown wind movement number 4974963, calibre 187.95M, with pumpkin shaped winder, case, 46mm diameter, foliate edge and engine turned upper and lower bezels, verso hinged at 6 o'clock, decorative engine turned engraving with foliate detail, interior signed and numbered 4974963 with Swiss mark for 18ct gold, additionally stamped 18K, 47.4g gross



Nacib K. Djezvedijan of Istanbul was the authorized dealer and general distributor for Longines watches from the 1880s in the Ottoman Empire until the 1960s in Turkey. He was a well known distributor for high end Swiss watches, including Vacheron & Constantin. He was based at Kapali Carsi Mahfazacilar(Muhafazicilar) Sok.
