Gentleman in burgundy coat - Several losses in the sitter's coat especially around his shoulder and the buttons. The paint appears to be flaking in this area. Further losses or fading near the right hand edge. Some surface scuffs left above the sitter's head. Not examined out of frame.

Gentleman in brown - flaking in the coat area especially along the bottom edge. Further damages and visible flaking all around the edges. Discoloured around the edges. Some surface dirt. Although this was purchased by Barry Lock as being on ivory, the support could instead be vellum. There appears to be either a small tear or small crack above the sitter's head. Not examined out of frame.

Gentleman in black - Surface dirt. Light fading in the background. Not examined out of frame.
